Easter Baking

I’m back with another Easter baking recipe, and honestly, I am loving Easter baking this year. There’s just something about this season that makes me want to bake nonstop, plus, the Easter aisles in the shops are elite. I always find myself popping down the seasonal aisle just to have a nose (tell me I’m not the only one!).

I still haven’t fully decided which Easter egg I’m going for this year, but let’s be real… it’s probably going to be the Mini Egg Infusion egg. The fact that the shell is packed with Mini Eggs feels very me and if you know me, you know my love for Mini Eggs runs deep.

If you’re looking for Easter baking inspiration, my blog is currently full of Easter recipes, with a strong Mini Egg theme. Some of the most popular Easter bakes include my Mini Egg blondies, Mini Egg brownies, Mini Egg cookies, and Mini Egg flapjacks. Perfect if you’re baking for Easter weekend, school holidays, or just because you love Easter chocolate!

That said, I know not everyone is Team Mini Egg. If you’re firmly Team Creme Egg, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. I’ll be releasing even more Creme Egg recipes throughout the Easter season, so there’s plenty of Easter baking goodness on the way.

Make sure to keep an eye on the blog, or subscribe at the bottom of this page to be notified whenever I share a new Easter recipe. Whether you’re baking with Mini Eggs or Creme Eggs, there’s something here for everyone this Easter!

Creme Egg Tray Bake (No Bake)

This no bake Creme Egg traybake tastes just as good as it looks and it’s made especially for my Team Creme Egg and no bake recipe lovers. If you love an easy Easter dessert with maximum chocolate impact, this one is for you.

We all love a no bake recipe, and it’s easy to see why they’re so popular right now. They’re quicker, cheaper to make, use fewer ingredients, and don’t require turning the oven on which is always a win. This makes them perfect for Easter baking, especially if you’re baking with kids or want a fuss-free Easter treat.

This recipe is inspired by some of my most popular no bake traybakes on the blog, including my Custard Cream biscuit slice and Jammie Dodger biscuit slice. Since you’ve all loved those so much, I knew it was time to create an Easter version… and what better ingredient than Creme Eggs?

The base of this no bake traybake is made with bourbon biscuits, keeping a rich chocolate theme throughout. If you’d prefer a flavour contrast, you can easily swap these for digestives. On top sits a smooth, creamy chocolate fudge layer, before the whole traybake is finished with Creme Eggs. Every single slice has a Creme Egg on top because it wouldn’t be a proper Easter dessert otherwise.

To keep this recipe more budget-friendly, I used half a Creme Egg per slice. Don’t worry though, even half an egg delivers full Creme Egg flavour and total chocolate heaven. One box of five Creme Eggs is perfect for this recipe: chopped in half it gives you ten pieces, plus you get one half to enjoy while you bake (win-win!). You can also chop extra Creme Eggs into the fudge layer if you want even more chocolatey goodness.

This no bake Creme Egg traybake is ideal for Easter baking, Easter desserts, and Creme Egg lovers of all ages. Both kids and adults will love this easy Easter treat and the best part? There’s no oven required. All you need is a microwave, a spatula, a tin, and a fridge.

No-bake Easter traybake with crunchy base, chocolate layer and Creme Egg topping.

Ingredients

  • Bourbon biscuits, crushed– These crunchy, chocolatey biscuits form the perfect base for your traybake, giving it structure and a classic biscuit slice texture.
  • Unsalted butter, melted– Melted butter binds the biscuit base together, ensuring a rich, buttery flavour that complements the chocolate and biscuits perfectly.
  • Sweetened condensed milk– This creates a thick, fudgy, and creamy chocolate layer that sets beautifully in the fridge. It’s the heart of the no-bake chocolate layer.
  • Milk chocolate, broken into chunks– Milk chocolate folded into the condensed milk layer adds richness and smoothness, giving a decadent chocolatey topping.
  • Creme Eggs– Halved and used to decorate the traybake, with the option to chop extra into the fudge layer.

Ingredient swaps: You can easily replace the bourbon biscuits with digestives if you prefer a lighter base or want more flavour contrast with the chocolate topping.

Tips & Tricks

  • Always use a microwave-safe bowl when melting chocolate– This helps prevent the chocolate from burning or seizing. Melt the chocolate in short bursts, stirring in between, for a smooth and glossy finish.
  • Press the biscuit base firmly into the tin– Use the back of a spoon or the base of a glass to compact the biscuit base tightly. This helps the base hold together and ensures clean, even slices when cutting your Creme Egg traybake.
  • Feel free to swap bourbon biscuits for digestives– Digestives work perfectly if you prefer a lighter, less chocolatey base. This swap is ideal if you want more flavour contrast in your no bake Easter dessert.
  • Cut Creme Eggs with a warm knife– Running your knife under hot water and wiping it dry before slicing the Creme Eggs helps you get clean halves and avoids cracking or sticking.
  • Add extra Creme Eggs for more indulgence– For true Creme Egg lovers, try chopping extra Creme Eggs and folding them into the chocolate fudge layer for even more Easter chocolate goodness.
  • Line your tin with baking paper– Leave some overhang on the sides so you can easily lift the no bake traybake out of the tin once set. This makes slicing much easier and keeps the edges neat.
  • Allow enough chilling time– For best results, chill the traybake for at least 3–4 hours, or overnight if possible. This helps the layers fully set and improves the overall texture of your no bake Creme Egg recipe.
  • Use a sharp knife for slicing– Clean the knife between cuts to keep the slices neat.
  • Store correctly for best freshness– Keep your no bake Creme Egg traybake in an airtight container in the fridge. It will stay fresh for up to 4–5 days, making it ideal for Easter baking prep.

How To Make

  • Line an 8×8-inch tin with baking paper and set aside. Crush the Bourbon biscuits into fine crumbs and place them in a large bowl. Add the melted butter and condensed milk, then mix until the mixture comes together like a soft, sticky dough. Press the mixture firmly and evenly into your prepared tin.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, add the milk chocolate pieces along with the remaining condensed milk. Melt in short 20–30 second bursts, stirring each time, until smooth, thick and glossy. Pour the chocolate topping over the biscuit base and spread it out evenly to the edges. Decorate the top with Creme Eggs.
  • Chill the traybake in the fridge for around 3 hours or until completely set. Once firm, slice into squares and enjoy your festive tray bake!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use evaporated milk instead of condensed milk?

No, evaporated milk will not work in this recipe and the fudge layer will not set properly. You must use condensed milk, as it is much thicker and sweeter and is essential for creating the firm, creamy fudge texture in this no bake Creme Egg traybake. Evaporated milk is too thin and will result in a soft, unset topping.

For best results, chill the traybake in the fridge for at least 3–4 hours, or overnight if possible. This ensures the biscuit base and chocolate fudge layer are fully set and easy to slice.

Do I have to use bourbon biscuits?

No, bourbon biscuits are used to keep a chocolate theme throughout, but you can easily swap them for digestives if you prefer a lighter base or want more flavour contrast in your no bake Easter dessert.

Can I add Creme Eggs into the fudge layer?

Absolutely. Chopping Creme Eggs and folding them into the chocolate fudge layer adds extra texture and makes this no bake traybake even more indulgent, perfect for Creme Egg lovers.
